Kayden's Sub
Happy New Year everyone,
It's been a while since I've posted any artwork, but now I'm here to show you the latest project. It started as a Christmas present for my grandson, so like everything else, I drew skecthes. From there I designed the submarine in Hexagon (the 3D modeling software of my choice), and built the model from all sides. Once I was satisfied with the look, I emailed the file to a local hobby store, where they do 3D printing. The process took thirty-seven hours to build (whew). Afterwards I used Tamiya Fine Surface Primer (white) for the based coat, then used another coat of Surface Primer (grey). Now I started masking off the model and airbrushing each side separately. After drying, I touch up certain areas for detailing.
Here is the completed sub, ready for trial runs in the bathtub! I'm happy with the results, it brings back days when I spent hours buildning/painting model kits. Now I hope to carry that tradition with my grandson!
